2010 looks likes it’s going to be a great year for movie-lovers with some smashing entries all set to roll in at the BO. There’s KJo-SRK production My Name is Khan, a totally insane Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland and one-man army Denzel in The Book of Eli just to name a few. Oh, did we forget to mention modern-day tin robot Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 2?
The Book Of Eli: In a post-apocalyptic 2043, a lone hero, Eli (Denzel Washington), guards the Book of Eli, which provides knowledge that could redeem society. The despot (Gary Oldman) of a small, makeshift town plans to take possession of the book. Also in the cast is Mila Kunis who promises to make this lonely face-off a must-watch! Releasing January 15, 2010.
Veer: Salman Khan takes a crack at penning a film script of his own and as a result, we have big-budget period drama of Pindara warrior Veer who battles British troops to get his lady love. Leave it to Salman to explore the barbarian lover in his stories! Releasing January 22, 2010.
I Love You, Philip Morris: After Sean Penn’s take on homosexuality in Milk, it is now Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey’s turn to experiment with their on-screen sexuality.Based on the real life events of con artist, impostor, and multiple prison escapee Steven Jay Russell (Jim Carrey), this is the story of how Russell escapes from prison four times in order to be reunited with his cellmate Philip Morris (Ewan McGregor) who he’s fallen in love with! Releasing February 12, 2010.
My Name Is Khan: The story of Asberger’s Syndrome victim Rizwan Khan and what happens to him in San Francisco post 9/11. This is Karan Johar’s next and stars SRK and Kajol in the lead together, the last time being K3G! Releasing February 12, 2010.
Alice in Wonderland: Tim Burton’s eccentric imagination is out to keep us entertained all over again with his interpretation of Lewis Carrol’s classic tale. With Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter 9with a digitally inflated head to boot) as the Queen of Hearts, this one is sure to send you down the rabbbit hole with Alice! Releasing March 5, 2010.
Teen Patti: Loosely based on Kevin Spacey’s maths-meets-poker picture 21, this movie is very high on our must-watch list for it’s sheer star power. After all, when you’ve got Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley deciding to share screen space, you know it’s worth watching atleast once. Releasing March 2010.
Kites: Kites is about an Indian boy’s romantic affair with a Latina girl and their predicament as they do not understand each other’s language. With daddy Rakesh producing beta Hrithik’s forthcoming venture, this one is on our list for supersexy Barbara Mori who plays the Latina! Releasing April 2010.
Iron Man 2: Robert Downey Jr. returns as the coolest superhero after Batman in the sequel to the 2008 Hollywood blockbuster. And this time, Iron Man ain’t alone. With Don Cheadle (of Ocean’s 11,12 and 13) taking over for Terence Howard as Warmachine and Samuel L. Jackson appearing as Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. Head, this one is a going to be a bloody, metal-banging, tin-crushing experience. Releasing May 7, 2010.
